Cusco - Titicaca - La Paz DAY 1: CUSCO /SACSAYHUAMAN
Reception at airpot. Transfer to the hotel. After arrival we suggest some rest. City Tour and Sacsayhuaman: Main Square, the Cathedral, Inca street (Hatunrumiyoc, Loreto), Temple and Sun or Koricancha. We will visit the archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman and the nearby sites of Pucapucara, Kenko and Tambomachay.
DAY 2: SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS
Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas , visiting the inca Citadel of Pisac and the colonial town of Pisac where a typical Indian market takes place every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, with a catholic mass service on Sunday in Quechua (the native language). Lunch at Urubamba or Calca.
In the afternoon we will visit the inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo. Return to Cusco by Chinchero or Pisac.
DAY 3: MACHUPICCHU
Early in the morning transfer to the railway station where we will board a tourist train to Machupicchu. We will have a guided tour of the famous Inca Citadel of Machupicchu. Lunch or box lunch . Late afternoon return to Cusco. Overnight.
DAY 4: PIKILLACTA /TEMPLE OF WIRACOCHA
Early departure by bus along the highway Cusco / Puno. During the trip we pass by the Lagoon of Wacarpay and visit the pre inca citadel of Pikillacta in the valley of Cusco. Next we will visit the Temple of Andahuaylillas best know as the Sixtine Chapel of America. On the way we will stop in Racchi where we will see the Temple of Wiracocha, a great inca god. It has a great central wall with basement of stone of fine inca architecture and the rest of the wall are made of giant adobes. It also has two lateral columns of circular shape. Within the surroundings of the temple there are several buildings used for housing and storage.Late afternoon return to Cusco. DAY 5: CUSCO / PUNO Early in the morning we will take the bus to the city of Puno. On the way we will pass through La Raya Ranch and see herds of llamas, alpacas and vicuñas Then we will travel across the high plateau of Collao stopping at the city of Ayaviri. Then we will visit the Kalasaya Temple of the ancient Pucara Culture. Arrive at the city of puno. Overnight. DAY 6: ISLAND OF THE TITICACA LAKE Early in the morning we will navigate by motor boat on the waters of the Lake Titicaca. We will go to the floating islands of the Uros, ancient inhabitants of the lake. The y built their own islands with a plant named /totora. Next we will continue the trip on boat an arrive at the Island of taquile. There we will take a walk through the island. In the afternoon we will return to Puno. Overnight. DAY 7: CHULLPAS OF SILLUSTANI Early in the morning we will take the bus to visit the Chullpas of Sillustani. They are located on the shores of Lake Umayo. The Chullpas where funeral monuments to important people of the ruler class. Return to Puno. Overnight. DAY 8: PUNO /LA PAZ / TIAWANAKU Early in the morning we will take the bus from Puno to la Paz (Bolivia). On the way we will stop at the town of Chucuito where we will visit The Fertility Temple named Inca Ullo (stone sculptures in the form of a human phallus). Then we will visit the catholic temples of July and Pomata built by the Jesuits during the Spanish colonial times. At the town of Desaguadero we pass over the international bridge between Bolivia and Peru. Then we will stop at Tiawanaku which is a great pre inca citadel, ancient center of the Tiawanaku Culture considered now as the archaeological capital of Bolivia. There we will have a guided tour visiting its Main Square, palaces, temples and the famous ?Puerta del Sol? (The Gate of the Sun). In the afternoon, we arrive t the city of La Paz ? Bolivia. Transfer to the hotel Overnight. DAY 9: LA PAZ / BOLIVIA City tour: Murillo Square, Temple of San Francisco, streets and old colonial mansions. Visit to the Witches Market and the residential quarters of La Paz. Moon Valley: A place near La Paz where the erosion of time has molded nature creating a moon like landscape. Return to the hotel Overnight. DAY 10: END OF TOUR |
